VERSE

First Place
YULETIDE BLESSINGS
Amanda Smith-Weston

May your Yule Log burn bright,
Your feast be plenty,
Your heart be full,
And your faith be restored
This holiday season.

Second Place
HAPPY HOLIDAY
Helga Parekh

Oh joy it is when coloured lights are shining bright
Though shopping up and down the aisles
May sometimes feel like walking miles.
With love, old and young gather at home
Or just as eagerly chat on the phone
If they are distant, or alone.
Wishing You
Happy Holidays

Third Place
CHRISTMAS PAST
Amanda Smith-Weston

I always get a little sentimental around the holidays.
For a time filled with delicate shiny ornaments and too warm rooms
bustling with family and friends.
For crinkly paper-wrapped boxes hiding treasures and little glass bowls
with hard candies on coffee tables.
For homemade baking adorning the tables and twinkling lights
on the tinseled and flocked tree.
For the magic that comes when you are the height of everyone’s knee, the apple of their eye, and a beloved family member dressed up as Santa places a package in your candy-cane stained sticky hands *just for you*

Wishing you a holiday filled with peppermint kisses under the mistletoe and jingling bells ringing in the New Year!

Honourable Mention
CHILDHOOD MEMORIES
Ken Westdorp

The Christmas Wish Book
offers a menagerie of toys
for both girls and boys.

Much-desired gadgets
to fulfil the desires of
sophisticated teenagers.

Perhaps a culinary play set,
or a rudimentary tool kit for
projects around the home.

Highlighted holiday gifts
still vivid in one's adult memory
despite mature responsibilities.
