ARTIST STATEMENT | Upon graduating from UBC, my life centred around teaching for the next 30 years. Many of them were as the head of the School Art Department. After retiring, my efforts centred around taking painting instruction from professional artists in both Canada and the United States requiring me to travel to the Okanagan, Oregon and Oklahoma several times for private lessons. I have completed the Landscape Certification programme, advanced landscape painting and have completed an additional advanced Landscape painting course and am taking a portrait drawing course. When not composing a new picture to paint, I am teaching painting privately, enjoying the outdoors, taking photographs, hiking, exploring wilderness trails or gardening in my back yard.
