We are emerging to show our work for the first time since COVID-19 shut the world down. The pandemic has forced many industries to embrace new ways of doing things using technology, and the art world is no different. We are integrating Zoom, audio visual clips, and our personal presence in the gallery into the show so that our audience will have a chance to meet us and tour our exhibit online from the safety of their own homes as well as in small (5 or less together), socially distanced groups in the gallery.
I am forever exploring our amazing world, which brims with intriguing flora, fauna, cultures, and individuals.
What I see, hear, touch, taste, or smell coaxes me to capture it in photos, digitally created images, words and sound. I start with words or images, which I then manipulate, refine, and enhance, adding sounds and motion to express or evoke new experiences for my audience. I then examine the facts about my collection, and push the boundaries between science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics until I feel I have created a montage that conveys my awe, wonder, elation, or sorrow.
Blending such varied elements is both deeply satisfying and constantly challenging. I use wordsmithing, film and digital cameras, natural and studio lighting, and ambient or musical sound then use computers and software to blend the manipulated results. The final step is output into a tangible print, book, or quasi-ephemeral video for an audience in hopes of showing that our world and people are unique, precious, and endlessly fascinating. http://leahmurray.ca/
Sarah Power has been an artist since childhood, received accolades for her artwork in her youth and is a graphic designer by trade. Most recently she has been honing her visual art style and now is at an exciting turning point in her art career. She has found a medium she loves in her mixed media, resin-on-wood art pieces. Her focus has become more cohesive, and the new direction is taking her to new levels of professional quality and starting to turn heads. With the new momentum she has become more prolific, and this exhibit will feature several new and intriguing pieces. https://sarahpoweredart.myportfolio.com/home
