'Landscape - Seascape'
RAMONA RADU
Exhibition | June 3-27, 2024
ARTIST STATEMENT | My artistic journey started painting with acrylic, oils and pastels. In 2019, I adventured into watercolour. I fell in love with this medium and it has been my go-to ever since. Its versatility and its complexity makes it so unique. Each time I stand in front of a blank piece of cotton paper I know what I want to paint but once the water and the pigment touches the paper it becomes unique, a mixture of what I have in mind and what the watercolour wants to compose. Together we create each painting uniquely, as no two pieces are the same.
Most of my inspiration comes from places I have traveled to and photos I have taken. Some of my pieces are just from an inspiration of the mind put onto paper, a feeling, a moment in the time the painting was created.
I hope the viewer gets transported into the magic of watercolour.

'Westcoast Wildlife'
Wendy Schmidt
Exhibition | June 3-27, 2024
ARTIST STATEMENT | Wendy Schmidt, born in 1958, was raised in Coquitlam and now resides in New Westminster, BC. She played the drums in a band, while painting in between shows. Her aim is to express appreciation of nature and wildlife through painting and photography. She continues to take painting classes in watercolour and oil techniques, and her inspirations come from observing nature. Wendy’s realistic style captures a peaceful feeling, and a calmness in the colors, which are influenced by the styles of Robert Bateman and Terry Isaac.
Wendy enjoys painting wildlife in its natural habitat, doing what nature does best. Her oil & watercolor paintings of West Coast local wildlife include bears, hawks, eagles, ducks, birds, owls, nature. She explores the West Coast of British Columbia for a never-ending discovery in nature to fuel her passion for art.
Wendy Schmidt artworks can be seen at www.wendyschmidt.ca, juried art shows, BC artisan markets, gift shops, and local art galleries.
