DIANA ROBLEŚ

January 4-30

RECEPTION | Public Welcome
Saturday, January 13 | 1-3pm | Newton Cultural Centre, Surrey

ARTIST STATEMENT | "I want to become the best painter I can be."  With that motive Diana Robleś set out on a monumental journey amassing a portfolio like none other.  Following her intuition alone: Robleś has blazed a trail that has led through culture, classes and categories yet still she is a contrarian: refusing to toe the line and jeopardize her artistic integrity. She has bravely faced near death, poverty and wealth, anonymity and popularity.

Robleś has tapped into her Ojibwa and Spanish roots to bring forth the impression of a tumultuous century. It was her mission to discover the abundance contained within the soul which lent its expression willing to her without end.  Without fail, Robleś has succeeded in her pursuit, bringing to life on canvas, the vibrant, violent, expressive colours of the spirit, of integrity and of legacy. The legacy of a life cut short at 79 years of age.

Diana Robleś, through her art, has left the legacy of a life well and truly lived.

Come and enjoy stepping into the world of this 21st century artist's work.
