ABOUT THE EXHIBITION | The Arts Council of Surrey invited artists and writers to submit 2D images of their original artwork or up to 8 lines of poetry or prose for a juried competition to be featured on our annual Christmas Card. First place for both visual and literary entries received 25 Christmas Cards with their image printed on the front of the card or their words printed on the inside, as well as their bio and headshots on the back of the card. All works are on display in the ACS Gallery December 1 – 15 or in our Virtual Gallery at artscouncilofsurrey.ca.

Emmett Smith-Weston “The Perfect Christmas”
From the start of the month, the pressure is on. Racing to get the perfect gift, the perfect tree, the perfect dinner. As snow piles high, the toys get wrapped and the turkey defrosts, a realization sets in. All you need is the right company to have the perfect Christmas.

On a cool Yuletide eve
In a forest of trees
The flakes flutter down
With nary a sound
And now we all know
The True Peace of Snow

“My Dog Roxy and the Magical Christmas Sky”
We walked one dark and frosty night
As the pale moon was shining big and bright
Wild geese could be heard honking from way up high
And bold Jupiter was hanging around close by
My curious dog looked up and barked in delight
Joining in this nocturnal sight
