entitled
VOICES IN STONE: Zimbabwean Sculptures'
January 3rd - 30th, 2025
Reception: January 10th | 1-3pm

CURATORIAL STATEMENT | My journey with Zimbabwean stone sculpture began more than ten years ago when I first traveled to Zimbabwe. I was struck not only by the technical mastery of the artists but also by the cultural stories embedded in each work. Every piece, whether depicting animals, people, or abstract ideas, is entirely handmade and one of a kind. For me, these sculptures embody resilience, spirituality, and the close relationship between humanity and nature.
I see myself as a bridge between cultures, and my role as a collector is to preserve and share these works so they can speak to new audiences. By exhibiting them in Canada, I hope to celebrate diversity, foster cultural exchange, and provide the community with an opportunity to engage with the beauty and depth of African art. These sculptures carry emotions and values that transcend borders, aligning with Canada’s vision of multiculturalism and shared human connection
