EXHIBITION | May 2-30, 2026
RECEPTION | Saturday, May 9th | 1-3pm

ARTIST STATEMENT | Portraiture is designed to capture a subject's likeness, personality, or mood. Historically commissioned by the elite, it is sometimes an exploration of human psychology. “Echoes of Her” is my first series of portraits. Inspired in part by the work of artists like Andy Warhol, I wanted to showcase women who have been influential to my life.
My process starts in my sketchbook. This intimate beginning to my work is instinctual to me. I draw all the elements separately in pen, then input them into my computer. Using Adobe Illustrator, I vectorize the drawings so they can be enlarged, shrunk, or duplicated. I colourize them, and then begin the layering process that is a lot like collage work. These posters are monoprints, so though they can be further reproduced, I have chosen to make them “unique editions”, only printed at this size once to preserve their authenticity and exclusivity.
Through portraiture, I seek not to replicate likeness exactly, but to engage in a quiet dialogue with each subject. Their faces may stir recognition in the viewer or perhaps may inspire the viewer to learn more about the person. My works include many “Easter eggs”, having more to them than first meets the eye.

ARTIST STATEMENT | My artistic journey started painting with acrylic, oils and pastels. In 2019, I adventured into watercolour. I fell in love with this medium and it has been my go-to ever since.
It’s versatility and its complexity makes it so unique. Each time I stand in front of a blank piece of cotton paper I know what I want to paint but once the water and the pigment touches the paper it becomes unique, a mixture of what I have in mind and what the watercolour wants to compose. Together we create each painting uniquely, as no two pieces are the same.
Most of my inspiration comes from places I have traveled to and photos I have taken. Some of my pieces are just from an inspiration of the mind put onto paper, a feeling, a moment in the time the painting was created.
I hope the viewer get transported into the magic of watercolour.
